The CODEX wall lamp was developed in collaboration with a student from Nantes School of Design, Augustin LINES. This wall lamp consists of two cubes, one made of crystal and the other made of perforated brass. The combination of these two materials highlights modernity with a retro design from the 1930s and innovation. Light is diffused through the base using LED technology and reflects off our luminous crystal, creating a "rainbow" effect when light is refracted.
Here, an innovative approach is revealed that combines tradition and modernity, beauty and sustainability. The fusion of these two materials combines the timeless beauty of crystal with the durability, strength, and sophistication of brass. The crystal reflects light and contrasts with the brass, which adds an elegant golden color, creating a visual harmony and a unique tactile experience.
We aimed to expand our range of expertise by offering the combination of traditional materials, providing a strong visual and tactile contrast while meeting durability and ecological responsibility constraints. Brass is easy to machine but still relatively fragile. The technical challenge lies in its cubic shape, with fold angles that are close to perforated circles. Cut at high temperatures, the spacing of these folds has been calculated to avoid wavy surfaces. The wall lamp is illuminated by LED technology, making it an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly product.
Both crystal and brass are recyclable materials. The waste from each can be recovered and reused, thus reducing the demand for virgin raw materials. They are also highly resistant and durable, contributing to the creation of environmentally friendly products. The use of LED technology ensures low energy consumption and long-term viability.
